Honduran authorities seize and destroy over 4 tonnes of cocaine in major drug bust: Video

Honduran authorities have seized and burned more than 4.1 tonnes of cocaine in a joint operation conducted by the country's Navy and Air Force.

The operation, which took place off the Atlantic coast, resulted in the arrest of four individuals - one Honduran and three Venezuelans - who are now being held on charges of aggravated drug trafficking.

Jorge Galindo, spokesman for the Technical Agency of Criminal Investigation (ATIC), confirmed that the largest bust involved 3,774 kilos of cocaine seized at sea on 10 September. “This action, in collaboration with the Naval Force, led to the arrest of four suspects," Galindo told AFP.

Chief of Public Relations of the Military Police, Jose Coello added that "Well, it was an operation where a large amount of drugs is found in the spots. We are talking about operations in the sector of the Atlantic coast, in the bay several nautical miles through operations of the Honduran Naval Force, the support also with helicopters of the Honduran Air Force."
