Some parts of a building where the offices of Members of Ghana's Parliament are located have been gutted by fire.

Parts of the Job 600 building located on the premises of the Parliament House caught fire on August 27 around 10 am local time.

The fire disrupted activities including committee sittings and some parliamentary businesses of the day, local news reports said.

A storeroom on the 2nd floor of the building was the source of the fire, according to the Greater Accra Fire Regional Commander.

Efforts have been made to douse the fire and stop its spread to other parts of the building.

Meanwhile, all parliamentary activities have been called off and staff members of parliament have been asked to go home for safety reasons.
